CLOSE QUARTERS This scenario immediately follows "Suez Crisis" After falling to Soviet invasion in the 20th century, Turkey has been a thorn in NATO's side for decades. A sympathetic puppet government put in place allowed the Warsaw Pact immense control and pressure in the Mediterranean. The displaced and suffering Turkish people, especially those in the larger cities, had no choice but to do what they could to survive under the new near-despotic rule. The freeing of Turkey has remained a primary objective for NATO in case of a war; not only would the merit of liberating the Turkish people bode well for the organization, but Turkey's proximity to major Soviet population and industrial sectors would allow many opportunities for aircraft and missile attacks. Additionally, controlling Turkey would allow NATO two corridors into the Union: across the Black Sea and into Crimea, and through the mountainous regions of Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. The Pact's control over Turkey and the Med, as well as their control of the Suez allowed them to put extreme pressure on Greece. Over time, Soviet and Turkish air and surface missile defense sights were built throughout several islands in the Aegean. The next step for NATO's invasion plans is to neutralize these hardpoints, with the additional objective of seizing control of some defense buildings with SEAL teams, in order to collect actionable intelligence on Soviet defensive doctrines and positions... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This scenario will not end automatically after a certain point limit is reached. Instead, you may choose to end the scenario once all three locations have been infiltrated, or keep playing afterward to achieve some of the secondary objectives.
