CMGO - Pain Train - Desert Ops #1

PAIN TRAIN Desert Ops #1 Since the invention of the armored fighting vehicle, flat, open terrain has proven to be the best possible tank country. In these terms, the hard, rocky deserts of the middle east and North Africa were hard to beat. With room to maneuver, open sightlines, and low risk of ambushes and obstacles, deserts have made their mark in armored warfare, through engagements in the North Africa campaigns of world war two, the wars against Israel, and the modern engagements in Iraq and the middle east. This sacred terrain would soon prove to be the tank's worst nightmare. With the advent of precision guided weaponry delivered by air, tanks suddenly found themselves easy targets. With nowhere to run or hide, the alluring terrains of the desert would prove to be the demise of the unprepared, unwilling or unable to adjust doctrine and strategy to the demands of the modern battlefield. This theory would become reality over the two wars against Iraq in the nineties and early two thousands, and would end the tank's uncontested domain of the sands... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This first scenario is a textbook engagement of armored forces in a desert terrain. The enemy will be easy to spot and easy to engage. Air superiority is achieved, and escort flights are present but irrelevant to the scenario. Destroy the armored columns quickly and efficiently. Minimize your casualties. This semi-historical scenario is set during the middle of the Iraq invasion of 2003. Playable on US-side only.
