LAST STAND 2022 This scenario is meant to be played after "Sinai Shootout" NATO was not the only side to meticulously plan for the conflict that was about to happen. Egypt was aware of its strategic position, and understood should war break out, the Mediterranean would see heavy fighting, and the Suez would be an immediate objective to their enemies. With Soviet support, the Egyptians planned and prepared a defense of their territory, expanding the training and resources received by their armed forces, and purchasing top-of-the-line equipment from their Soviet partners throughout the 20th centuries. The subsequent events of the 21st century would see these efforts falter, as payments for new equipment and hardware began to slow, the Egyptians found themselves in the back foot when hostilities started up again recently. A big piece of their strategic defensive planning included Soviet aircraft, soldiers and ships fighting alongside Egypt, as well as some other countries of the middle east. The panicked state of the Warsaw pact, however, and the iron fist laid down by the Americans and Chinese on the Iranians earlier in the year, pushed several would-be allies into neutrality. Most of the Egyptian surface and sub-surface fleet was ordered to Turkish ports to shore up the Soviet defenses against the Americans, as well as all their Medium-range anti-ship conventional, nuclear and ballistic missiles. What was left was a motley assortment of outdated ASM's and howitzers dotting the coast and aging fortifications and armored formations in the beaches. Despite these setbacks, the Egyptian air force was still a very capable fighting force. With a massive coalition fleet approaching their coastline and the Israelis mobilizing, the Egyptian government green-lights an attack at both of their foes, understanding that their best chance of survival is an all-or-nothing attack while all of their equipment is operational and soldiers are still alive.
