Sinai Shootout 2022

SINAI SHOOTOUT 2022 This scenario follows the events of "Frozen Seas, Miserlou, and Baltic Fire" in the 2022 series. If you haven't played them, be sure to do so before playing this scenario to better understand the context of the conflict. Soon after clear lines were drawn between the Warsaw Pact and NATO, both sides sought to extend their spheres of influence. Hundreds of countries, militaries, and other political entities were talked to, traded with, and in some cases fought over, in an endless jockey for position and advantage. The Middle East, with its rich natural resources and geographical importance, was one of the areas most hotly contested, and saw much fighting and action throughout the mid and late 20th century. Egypt sided with the Warsaw Pact, and, despite NATO's best efforts, received military and economic support and funding from its sponsor, including several nuclear warheads. This new deterrent stopped any attempts at subduing the Egyptians, who controlled the critical Suez Canal. Times have changed, however. The Soviets had suffered several defeats in a re-ignition of hostilities against the West, with its biggest blow received so far in the Mediterranean. Greece was free to begin mobilizing, and the Americans along with several other BLUEFOR allies were now threatening an attack and possible invasion of Soviet Turkey, effectively eliminating any chances of direct Soviet intervention for Egypt. Additionally, modern air-intercept technology now put the strength of Egypt's old Scud missiles in question. Israel has been patiently planning an attack procedure against one of its most hated and diplomatically protected neighbors. With a coalition fleet underway, Israel and the rest of BLUEFOR would take the Suez and eliminate Egypt as a military threat with attacks from the ground and an invasion from the sea. All that was left to do was stir the hornet's nest, hopefully causing the enemy to make a critical mistake...
