Baltic Fire 2022

BALTIC FIRE 2022 Following the crushing Soviet defeats at the hands of the US and her allies, news of the Union's faltering military power spread like wildfire throughout the world. Across the globe independent states, who've found themselves bullied and at odds by the massive red giant began mobilizing their forces, adopting more risky and aggressive political actions, and beginning talks with NATO for military allegiance. China, although on the backfoot after suffering several military defeats against the Soviets earlier in the year, found these new military embarrassments as an opportunity, and once again began to put pressure around Soviet-Chinese borders in the far east, building up military ground, air and naval forces for renewed aggression. Within the Union itself, revolutionary, insurgent and terrorist groups seeking their formal nation's independence began an increase in operational tempo, inciting small-scale sabotage actions, military disruption operations, propaganda, and inciting peaceful and violent protests throughout Soviet-controlled territory. This new disastrous situation would send the Warsaw Pact and its leadership into a wild frenzy, demanding more from the massive red war machine in terms of equipment production and conscription. Several reserve military, police and KGB units were mobilized and set to emergency state, manning possible frontlines and cracking down on rebels and insurrectionists. In the Baltic states, rebellions across Lithuania and Latvia have become so unexpectedly powerful in force and scale that both countries have essentially ground to a halt. Thousands have died in armed protests and face-offs with military and police units, and every major population center in both countries is under martial law. Lithuania's insurgent movement has proven particularly effective, as several groups have somehow found themselves armed to the teeth and combat-ready, springing into action almost immediately after the popularized Soviet defeats
