📋 About This Mod

Old Engraved Bayonet Overhaul

Description

Do you miss Mia from Code Vein 1?

The blonde girl who fought with a bayonet in the first game...

In Code Vein 2, you can find a bayonet called the Old Engraved Bayonet, featuring the same color scheme as Mia's iconic Brodiaea. And if you look at its unique Weapon Formae, there's really no doubt about it—this is Mia's bayonet. And yet, despite having great stats and feeling really good to use... the devs gave it nothing but the most basic standard attacks and shooting moves!

So this mod is basically Brodiaea reclaiming its lost power. No more "Old **** Bayonet." Brodiaea is back.

Overall Changes

The normal attacks and shooting mechanics have been completely overhauled. Now focuses heavily on ranged combat and overwhelming firepower. Elegantly tear your enemies to pieces!

Normal Attacks

Most of its normal attacks are no longer melee attacks...although there are still a few, mainly for knocking enemies back and keeping them away from you. Instead, most of the moveset now consists of various ranged attacks.

The weapon intentionally feels somewhat heavy and deliberate to use. This is mainly a balancing decision since most of its moveset can now attack from range. Even with that limitation, though, it's still extremely powerful in actual gameplay.

Shooting Changes (Optional)

Shots no longer consume ammunition. They consume Ichor instead—just like in CV1 !  (Thanks to f00lm00n for the idea!)  Since Brodiaea no longer relies on a magazine, you don't actually need to reload anymore. You can still perform the reload action, although it doesn't actually reload anything. However, some of Holly's skills grant damage buffs after reloading, and those buffs still work with Brodiaea.

So if you're using Holly's reload-related skills, you can basically treat reloading as a small shot-enhancement action before opening fire.

Ground Shot

Used 1 IchorFires an extremely long-range, moderately powerful shot.

The damage itself isn't particularly impressive, but the range is absolutely ridiculous. You can stand at an absurd distance and keep shooting enemies until they're full of holes!

Air Shot

Used 3 IchorFires an extremely high-impact projectile.

It deals solid damage and can send enemies flying and knock them to the ground.

Dodge Shot

Used 2 IchorAfter repositioning, fires a powerful laser that can be fired repeatedly.

Its firing speed is relatively slow, but each shot deals very high damage. Used properly, it can inflict massive damage on enemies !

Optional Idle Animation Overhaul

This is an optional part of the mod.

It replaces the female player's rather rough and goofy, almost gorilla-like animations with Holly's much more elegant animation set. This includes her idle stance, Gestures, weapon sheathing animations, movement stops, and more.

It works best with Bayonets. You can still use it with other weapon types, but you may notice some strange snapping or awkward poses when putting your weapon away.

One thing I should mention: when stopping after a sprint, you may feel like your character comes to a very sudden stop. This is normal, even NPC Holly does this. I spent a long time looking for Holly's Sprint Stop and Jog Stop animations, but I simply couldn't find them. In the end, I had to use her Walk Stop instead. But like I said, as far as I can tell, the developers only gave Holly a proper Walk Stop, so... there isn't much I can do about that.

Also, this optional animation overhaul does have some clipping issues.

If animation/model clipping really bothers you, I recommend not using this option. I honestly don't know how to fix the model clipping myself!

One Last Thing...

Some people might look at this and think...

"Isn't this just a boring mod that stitches a bunch of existing Formae together?"

Well... maybe!

But no matter how you look at it, it's still more interesting than the generic bayonet template it originally had, right? At the very least, Brodiaea is a lot flashier now! And I didn't simply transplant existing moves either. I've modified some of them so that they behave differently from their original Formae and better fit Brodiaea's new moveset.

Enjoy!
