For The Outer Rim

The Kyber Expansion Trailer

UPDATE (July 8th, 2024): The Kyber Expansion Returns (for reals this time)!

Hey everyone, I'm back!! The 1. 0 is here and I'm back to work updating the Kyber Expansion! As soon as Kingo releases the 1. 0 update for The Outer Rim mod I will start porting The Kyber Expansion over! I'm checking this page semi-frequently to see what y'all are saying so let me know if you all would want a U12 version while we wait. I'm still in contact with Alex from The Outer Rim and I continue to contribute sound work to his mod once and a while so I'm definitely not going anywhere. Thank you guys again for all the support!

Any future updates will continue to appear here or in the Posts section. btw for those who don't know, the mod is still playable if you roll back to U7 on steam!

Disclaimers:

All maps featured in Trailer ARE NOT part of the Kyber Expansion Mod (They come from many talented modders from across the B&S Nexus page)

This is an expansion upon The Outer Rim Mod by Kingo64, therefore The Outer Rim is required for The Kyber Expansion to work

Crystals:

The Kyber Expansion adds more than 65+ new crystals to the game with more on the way. Colors are vastly expanded upon with crystals meant to recreate the look and sound of their appearances in all Star Wars media.

Many crystals are dedicated to the look of certain films like the blue and green Prequel crystals or the series of crystals made to emulate the different blues from A New Hope. Many crystals recreate the blades of certain characters in certain movies like the many Darth Vader crystals or the Luke crystals. Some colors are from TV shows like the Clone Wars while others look like the blades from the many Star Wars video games like The Force Unleashed, Jedi Fallen Order, Battlefront 2, Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast and even rather obscure titles like Jedi Power Battles.

When it comes to lightsabers, sound is just as important as color. The Kyber Expansion extensively modifies the sounds of the lightsabers to accurately emulate each crystal's sounds as from their source material. A proper sound overhaul is planned for a later release.

A WIP blade type is the Flicker Blade. The Flicker Blades are the most difficult to make and can often be a bit buggy and broken from time to time but they are by far the best looking blades. My personal favorite is the Force Awakens Blue flicker blade, especially with the sounds of the saber from the film, creating a visceral and truly epic feeling lightsaber.

Not all crystals are new as many of the original crystals have been redone to look better as well. Some include the basic Blue, Green, Red, Yellow, and many others including a few of the unstable colors.

Lightsabers

Also included is nearly 140 new and modified lightsabers to the game. There are NO NEW MODELS, just new crystal/saber combinations. This means that there are more lightsabers because the hilts themselves have been multiplied to fit their many different appearances and iterations. For example Anakin Skywalker's second lightsaber has numerous versions in the mod from Revenge of the Sith, A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, and The Clone Wars. Outside of user convenience, this is primarily for the heavily overhauled AI spawning.

AI:

The Outer Rim's AI spawn system has been overhauled including most of the new sabers from The Kyber Expansion but also many of the sabers that have been added into the game in previous updates, now with Kyber Expansion crystals. The spawn rates have also been tweaked for accuracy so special sabers like double bladed designs will spawn very rarely and shoto style hilts like Yoda's won't spawn at all. Sabers with rarer crystal colors like purple and yellow will also spawn less frequently.

Requirements:

• The Outer Rim Mod by Kingo64

Recomended Mods:

- Dark Chains

-Knight Training

Known Issues:

• Flicker Blades can be a bit buggy
