OVERVIEW
9ylX0vH3Z28
From lighting and material behavior to particle effects, textures, and environmental details, "Visual Fixes" addresses a wide range of inconsistencies across the game. Special attention has been given to preserving the atmosphere, mood, and visual storytelling that defined the original BioShock.
The goal is not to redesign the game, but to faithfully repair and enhance what was already there — delivering a version of BioShock Remastered that looks and feels closer as it was originally intended.
This mod is exclusive for Bioshock Remastered's PC version. Tested with the Steam and GOG releases.
EXTRA FEATURES
Visual Fixes already includes:
- Optimized version of Reflective Water Surfaces
- Mausoleum fire puzzle fix in "Arcadia" level
WHAT SHOULD YOU DOWNLOAD
This mod contains 2 main different download files:
- "Main Pack": It constains all the fixes and features, without adding any changes that were not present in the retail version. As faithful as possible for the original version.
- "Beta Atmosphere" pack: For those already familiar with the game, looking for something slightly different in their next playthrough:
Some bodies floating outside the windows in the initial portion of "Neptune's Bounty" now cast shadows (these were disabled far late into development).
Added 2 new/unused skyboxes for some levels of the game, in order to better create the illusion that you are actually moving to different sides of the city. Levels connected by bulkhead doors always share the same skybox, whereas levels separated by bathyspheres will always use different skyboxes compared to the previous and subsequent levels:
-Blueish skybox: replaces the default greenish one in "Welcome to Rapture", "Medical Pavillion", "Point Prometheus", "Proving Grounds" with a blueish design, only seem in early demos at the time;
-Hydroponics skybox: replaces the default greeish one in "Arcadia" and "Farmer's Market" with an exclusive one that was originally supposed to be used in these areas. It was later oficially reused for the challenge rooms.
HOW TO INSTALL
In which order should I install the files?
-Always first: "Main Pack"
-Second: "Beta Atmosphere"
1) Create a folder, name it whatever you like, and extract the mod files into it.
2) Download and open TFC Installer;
3) Select the folder where the game is installed;
4) Select the folder where you placed the mod files;
5) Finally, click to install.
COMPATIBILITY FOR GOG USERS
Download the GOG fix in the downloads tab, and overwrite the ShockGame. U. PackagePatch in "ModMainFolder"\Game\Build\Final\BakedScripts\pc in the mod's "Main Pack. Finally, install it as usual.
HOW TO USE "HD TEXTURE PACK" IN CONJUNCTION WITH "VISUAL FIXES"
Be sure to always install the "Visual Fixes" LAST. This will allow you to take advantage of the most features of the "HD Pack" in conjunction with the "Visual Fixes", while also avoiding visual glitches.
WARNING FOR "HD TEXTURE PACK" USERS
Although both "Visual Fixes" and "HD Pack" are mostly compatible with each other, you may encounter the following problems if both are installed simultaneously:
- desynchronized audio during cutscenes;
- random crashes when loading a save file or loading a new level;
- incompatibility with GOG version;
