📋 About This Mod
📜 Credits & Inspiration
This mod was inspired by Erka’s Extra weapon specific skills mod (uploaded by ZSteve on Nexus Mods). Special thanks to the author for explicitly allowing others to build upon and modify the original work. The idea of implementing the Half-Swording technique comes directly from that foundation, and this mod further adjusts and expands upon it in the same spirit of experimentation. In addition, this mod uses the Mordhau skill icon created and shared by ZSteve.

⚔ Half-Swording Mod Features (Weapon Overhaul)
🔹 Longsword – Although the longsword is described in the original game as “a versatile two-handed blade”, its actual skill set plays more like a smaller greatsword: it shares Split and Split Shield, while lacking options that emphasize precision and flexibility.
This mod redefines the longsword’s role:
Removed
-
[]Split: Overlapping AoE role, inconsistent with the “versatile” concept.
[
]Split Shield: Generally considered the weakest sword skill with very little practical value.
A combat overhaul for longswords and two-handers, adding historical techniques like Mordhau and Half-sword Thrust. With 36 endorsements and 1,622 downloads, it's a niche mod for players seeking more realistic swordplay. Last updated January 2026.

📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Brings authentic historical techniques to the game, a fresh take for combat enthusiasts.
- Small but active community (36 endorsements) — the author is still updating as of January 2026.
- Lightweight mod that doesn't overhaul the entire combat system, just adds specific moves.
⚠️ Cons
- Very niche appeal — only 36 endorsements means it's not widely tested or vetted.
- No detailed documentation on how the new moves are executed or balanced.
- Potential compatibility issues with other combat mods — no compatibility notes provided.
For players who love historical fencing and want more realistic swordplay in their game. If you're tired of longswords feeling like smaller greatswords, this adds the depth you crave. Skip if you prefer arcade-style combat or don't care about historical accuracy.
