📋 About This Mod

The Way of the Boulder emphasises hardiness and fortitude, using their Constitution for both attacks and their Armour Class. Draw strength from the earth beneath you, and change resistances to suit your purpose. Based on homebrew by

Based on homebrew by LaserLlama, those following the Way of the Boulder draw on the strength of the earth to become implacable titans. Which is to say, they can use Constitution in place of Dexterity for both their attacks and their Armour Class. Become as the mountain itself and rebound blows against your attackers, and let the earth itself enhance your shoves – just watch out for puddles.

I realise here that this is about the third more bulky Monk I've done. This is somewhat well-worn territory for homebrew, but I like to think each puts a slightly unique spin on it. This one is on the simpler side mechanically, with the bulk of the power coming from letting you turn Constitution into an attack stat. Under the hood, it's a little more experimental: I'm doing a few things behind-the-scenes to manipulate your weapon and unarmed stats, so do tell me if you run into any issues. As ever, I've had to change things slightly to fit the context of BG3, but hopefully the subclass should mostly translate.

Features by level

  • []Level 3:

[]Your Armour Class can equal 10 + your Constitution modifier + your Wisdom modifier.[/]

[]If it is higher, you may use Constitution in place of Strength or Dexterity for attacks with unarmed strikes or Monk weapons.[/]

[]When standing on solid ground, you add your Constitution modifier (minimum of +1) to Strength checks and saving throws. You are not considered to be touching the ground when standing on Water, Ice or Vines surfaces.[/]

[/]

  • []Level 6: When a creature hits you with a melee weapon or unarmed attack, you can use your reaction and a 1 Ki Point to reduce the damage by your Monk level + one roll of your Martial Arts die + your Constitution modifier. If you reduce the attack's damage to 0, the blow is rebounded towards your foe; you roll an unarmed attack to determine any damage done.[/]

  • []Level 11: You can give yourself resistance to one of the following damage types: Bludgeoning, Piercing, Slashing, Acid, Cold, Fire, Lightning, or Thunder. You can change this choice for free once each Short Rest whilst out of combat, or you can change it on-demand as a bonus action by spending 2 Ki Points.[/]

    []Level 17:

[]Your Constitution is raised by 2, up to 22. (For technical reasons this doesn't appear during level-up; if it did, it would stop you from raising above 20.)[/]

[]As an action, you can spend 5 Ki Points shattering the ground. Mud spews forth, turning the surrounding area into difficult terrain. All creatures within 9m make a Strength save to avoid falling Prone and taking damage equal to 5 rolls of your Martial Arts die. On success, they
