📋 About This Mod
Any movement bonus that you receive from the Monk Class will work with this subclass as long as you're not holding a shield.
Proficiency with all Armor and Martial Weapons

Steel Reprieve Apprentice: When you reduce an enemy to zero hit points or score a critical hit while not holding a shield, you can use your reaction to take one of the following actions: Dash, Disengage, or Patient Defense. If you take one of these actions, you gain temporary hit points equal to your Proficiency Bonus.
Level 6.
Stunning Strike (Melee): Once per combat, you can use the the melee version of Stunning Strike as a bonus action without expending a ki-point.
Steel Reprieve Journeyman: When you reduce an enemy to zero hit points or score a critical hit while not holding a shield, you can use your reaction to take one of the following actions: Dash, Disengage, or Patient Defense. While you have these temporary hit points, you have a +1 to Saving Throws and Attack Rolls.

If you take one of these actions, you gain temporary hit points equal to your Proficiency Bonus plus two times your Monk Level. While you have these temporary hit points, you have a +2 to Saving Throws and Attack Rolls, and resistance to non-magical Bludgeoning, Piercing, and Slashing Damage.
A homebrew Monk subclass for Baldur's Gate 3 that lets monks wear armor and wield heavy weapons without multiclassing into Fighter. All features deactivate if a shield is equipped, encouraging a two-handed playstyle. Small but active mod with 15 endorsements and 5,693 downloads.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Fills a niche for monks who want heavy armor and big weapons without multiclassing
- No shield pressure—features reward two-handed builds, which is a fresh take
- Decent traction for a niche homebrew: 15 endorsements and 5,693 downloads
⚠️ Cons
- Very niche—if you like shields or unarmored monks, this isn't for you
- Only 15 endorsements, so it's not widely tested—expect potential balance quirks
For Baldur's Gate 3 players who want to play a monk with heavy armor and big weapons without dipping into Fighter. If you're tired of feeling forced to use a shield and want a two-handed monk fantasy, this is for you. Skip if you prefer traditional unarmored monks or shield-based builds.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure you have mod manager support enabled in BG3's settings, as this is a class mod that needs to be loaded correctly.
- Equip a two-handed weapon and heavy armor to get the most out of the subclass—shields will disable all features.
- Check the mod's page for any updates or patches, as it was last updated in February 2025 and may need compatibility checks with newer game versions.
