Oath of the Dreadbound (Blackguard Subclass)

This mod is almost identical to my original Oath of the Dreadbound subclass for Paladin but it has been added to the Blackguard subclass selection as well. The only real difference is Divine Smite is not removed as there is no Divine Smite in the Blackguard class. This does not overwrite anything in the original mod so you can still have a party member as the Oath of the Dreadbound Paladin subclass and someone else as the Blackguard subclass if you would like. I have added the description of the Paladin subclass below for your convenience which uses the same exact progression regardless if you are using the Oath of the Dreadbound as a Paladin subclass or as a Blackguard subclass.

Oath of the Dreadbound

Forged in dread and hardened through psychological warfare, the Dreadbound Paladin is a relentless force who fractures the minds of their foes as

ruthlessly as they cleave through bodies. They are not bound by the Divine but rather by a Codex, the Codex of Harrowed Ascendance. Their presence erodes the senses, turns friends into enemies, and resolve into retreat. Their aim is not to inspire, they cause terror. These paladins are known as Harrowers and those who walk their path do not seek peace, but control. To follow the Oath of the Dreadbound is to revere terror and dread as sacred doctrine, wield fear as a weapon forged for conquest, and unleash distortion like a plague upon the mind.

Abhorrent Smite

Once you reach level 2, you gain the spell Abhorrent Smite. This spell functions exactly like Divine Smite but does Psychic damage instead.

Channel Oath Abilities

• []Shroud of Madness: At level 1 you gain the Channel Oath ability, Shroud of Madness. As a bonus action you can cast this on an enemy to temporarily erase their memory. On a failed save they cannot cast spells and cannot tell friend from foe for 5 turns. At the end of each turn the affected entity will make another saving throw, on a successful roll the condition is ended.

• []Chains of Dread & Mindbreak Curse: At 3rd level you gain the Channel Oath ability, Chains of Dread. As an action you can cast this on an enemy to deal 1d10 psychic damage (scales with D10 cantrip damage) and pull the enemy to your location. On a successful save the target takes half damage, but is still pulled to your location.
