No More Blatant Lies

Made for Patch 8 - Hotfix 36, but will probably work for other patches. This is another one I've been sitting on for a while, guys 😅 Like. since 2024, a while. I think the world is ready for it now <3

Okay, okay, NO more lying.

... About how tall Astarion is.

There's a line Githyanki have in Astarion's Act 1 mirror scene, where they can tell him he's 5'11" when he asks them to tell him to describe how he looks. And I don't agree with that, frankly! That man is a short king if I've ever seen one. So, let's make the game text reflect that!

How it Works:

All this mod does is override the text for that specific dialog option, and changes what height you can say he is. While I was at it, I also changed the line from saying he's "medium build" to saying he's a twink, because why not. (And before we get all up in arms about the definition of a 'twink,' I also don't think Astarion has abs <3 and I also don't think there should be a point you're too old to be a twink. Let's support our middle aged and elderly twinks too, okay?)

There's three options to choose from:

One that says he's 5'9" (based on this tweet from the official Larian Twitter account):

One that says he's 5'4", based on the fact I think companions might have their cameras configured to make them look taller or shorter based on perspective? And Astarion gives me 5'4" vibes based on how his cameras are set up ngl.

Aaand one that says he's 5'1", which is my own personal headcanon. <3

If you'd like to edit the text further for your own personal headcanons, feel free btw!! All you need to do is unpack the mod with something like LSLib, edit the text in the english.xml file in the \\Mods\MGNTN_NoMoreLies\Localization\English\ folder, and then repack the mod. You should be good to go after that!

Compatibility:

This mod edits exactly one line of text: "An elven vampire spawn, approximately 5'11", medium build...", with the .loca handle ha4cc3088ga37fg4fe7gba22gb7503a15a10b. It'll conflict with other mods that edit that same line of text, but shouldn't conflict if the mod doesn't override that line or override the entire English localization file. (Mods like OIO might be incompatible; I've not tested them yet, but things like my Be Nice To Wyll mod and Dice Roll Text Replacer by koboldJuno should be compatible!)

This mod also does not override the dialog files for this scene, or any other vanilla resources, so it should be compatible with other edits to the scene. This includes mods like EmeraldTechno's Extremely
