Haarlep Unleashed — A Mod for Enhanced Consequences

When you first made the deal with Harleep, it seemed like a significant choice. However, in the game, it barely had any important consequences. This mod changes that by introducing random, unpredictable events where Harleep attempts to seize control of the character's body.

While the player can feel Haarlep's presence trying to take over, they can resist him through a Constitution saving throw. As long as they succeed it, the deal can provide a minor advantage in battles or exploration. If they fail, Harleep’s influence might distract the character to such an extend that the party likely has to continue without them for some time. In battle, this can be particularly dangerous, as it might even cause the character to get killed, which would interrupt Haarlep, but wouldn't stop him. He doesn't care whether they are even currently fighting to save the world - he doesn't live in it.

There are two versions of the mod:

• []Agitated Version: Haarlep attempts to take over the character's body every 30 seconds with a 50% chance — perfect for players who want to test their resistance or enjoy more frequent challenges.

  []Default Version: Haarlep tries to take over once every 10 minutes, offering a more moderate level of risk.

• Lazy Version: Haarlep tries to take over once every 30 minutes, offering more unexpected events.

  This mod is designed to be minimalistic — there are no new icons or animations, just a repurposing of existing assets in the game. It’s my first mod, and I created it to explore the possibilities within the game’s framework. It's inspired by the Divine Curse mod, but otherwise completely independent from it. There are only five files involved, and it may provide some useful insights for other modders looking to experiment with similar features. If you've just made a deal with Harleep you might need to save and reload for this mod to work.

  Uninstalling the mod should be straightforward, though it's recommended not to load a save where your character is currently under Haarlep's influence. However, instead of uninstalling, you might want to ask yourself whether it was a good idea to make a deal with Harleep in the first place.

  Otherwise I don't want to tell too much about how this Mod works. As Haarlep would say: It's a surprise :).
