BG3WASD Camera Follow

A third-person movement and camera overhaul built on BG3WASD / WASD Character Movement by Ch4nKyy.

BG3WASD already transforms Baldur's Gate 3 by replacing click-to-move exploration with direct WASD character movement. This fork builds on that foundation with a camera system designed to make exploration feel closer to a modern third-person RPG.

Instead of constantly correcting the camera by hand, it can smoothly follow your character's movement, steer naturally with the mouse, or combine both behaviours depending on how you prefer to play.

The goal isn't to completely automate the camera. Manual control always takes priority, allowing the game to retain the freedom of BG3's camera while making normal exploration considerably smoother and more natural.

This is a replacement for the original BG3WASD DLL, not an add-on. Do not install both at the same time.

Camera Modes

The mod provides two independent camera systems that can be used separately or together:

  []Mouse Steering - allows mouse movement to directly steer the camera while moving, including vertical camera movement for a freer mouse-look style of play.[/]

  Both systems are independent. You can use Camera Follow by itself, Mouse Steering by itself, enable both together, or disable both and retain the original BG3WASD camera behaviour.

  Why Camera Follow?

  BG3's camera was originally designed around mouse-driven movement and free camera control. Direct WASD movement works extremely well, but it can leave the player repeatedly adjusting the camera as their character changes direction.

  Camera Follow bridges that gap.
