Stay a While - Pose Emotes

Description

"I just wanted a photo with Ri'nela." So I ended up making this — a mod that lets your emote wheel play real NPC poses.

This release: the squat and the cross-legged sit, the two most stable.

More poses in testing.

Pose Pack — what's new

Four poses in one install, on four separate emotes, instead of one at a time:

Greeting  - cross-legged sit

Thank You  - asian squat

Dance      - standing, contemplating

Laugh      - standing guard pose ( Personally, I think it looks like a JoJo pose.

Call and Annoyance are left vanilla.

If the animation looks like it’s being sped up, that’s normal. Each original emote slot has its own playback duration limit, so the animation is currently still constrained by the duration of the slot it replaces.

I’ll try digging further into the file format later to see if I can change or remove that limitation, but for now it’s still there. If you want to use the sitting pose without it being sped up, I recommend using the original Greeting version. That’s why I kept that version available.

The asian squat has been replaced. The one in the earlier Asian Squat file

was a full deep squat with the knees folded shut - if you thought the legs

looked wrong, you were right. Thanks to everyone who reported it.

Greeting needs the From the Ashes DLC. The other three are base game.

Laugh: the laughing face still plays on top of the guard pose.

Don't install this alongside the older single-pose files - they use the same slot.

Anyway, I hope everyone’s Tamtey can now properly attend meetings with the clan leaders — and enjoy Ri’nela’s very loving (?) gaze while doing so. Thank you to all the olo’eyktan and olo’eykte who have been enjoying this mod!  My replies may be a little slower for a while, as I’m heading into a busy period in real life.

Installation instructions

Install a mod loader first (e.g. Raindrop).

Download one version (both use the Greeting slot).

Extract into your game folder 

Result: …\AFOP\baked_animsys\blue\animation\player_third_person_animsystem.manimsysbin

Uninstall: delete the baked_animsys folder. No original files are ever touched.

How to use / known quirks:

Press Greeting to pose. The pose doesn't end on its own — move or use another emote to exit.

Don't spam the emote button.

Photo Mode: switch back to a normal action BEFORE closing Photo Mode.

Closing it mid-pose has occasionally crashed the game with an out-of-memory error — it doesn't happen every time, and I'm still investigating the cause.
