📋 About This Mod
A collection of Reshade presets for Syndicate focussed on balancing clarity and style.
This is a work-in-progress. If you have any feedback, I would really appreciate if you left a comment. Thank you.
The dynamic range of the Ripper DLC is different from the base game so the bloom/flare will look excessive while playing it.
Made for Reshade 6. 3. 3. Add-on support not required.
6. 4. 0 and later versions crash if using ToggleHUD.
To download this older version of Reshade click this link. Caution, download starts automatically.
The files do not include the necessary shaders for the presets to work. To acquire these, please use the Reshade installer. The installer will prompt you to –
-
[]Select game: ACS.exe
[
]Select rendering API: DirectX 10/11/12[]If you do not have Reshade already installed, it will skip to effect selection.
[]Otherwise, select operation: Update Reshade and effects
[]Select effects to install: Instead of picking out the effects individually, you may choose a preset file (.ini) and the installer will automatically choose the effects which are used in that preset
The presets folder goes into game base folder. For Steam this will be: Steam\steamapps\common\Assassin's Creed Syndicate
Place LUT folder into: Assassin's Creed Syndicate\reshade-shaders\Textures
The reshade-shaders folder will be created after Reshade is installed.
AC.ini edits
Since the presets apply their own bloom and depth-of-field (DoF) effects, it is recommended to disable these by editing AC.ini (located in Documents\Assassin's Creed Syndicate). Unfortunately, they cannot be disabled through in-game options.
-
[]PostFX = 0. Removes vanilla DoF.
[]Bloom = 0. Removes vanilla bloom effect.
-
[]Brightness = 3 = middle of the bar, but you can set this to whatever is comfortable for you.
[]Anti-Aliasing = FXAA or TXAA + FXAA. MSAA will prevent Reshade’s depth-based effects from working – like DoF blur, etc.
Variants
Presets are organised into their own packs based on which LUT (colour grade) they use and what mood/function they are meant for. Every set has variants for different purposes. Common variants are described below. Unique variants are explained in the packs section.
-
[]Filmic: Includes a bunch of film or camera style effects including halation, bloom, elliptical lens flares, slight chromatic aberration. I recommending disabling whichever fx you don’t like.
[]Clean: Removes all Filmic effects (and film grain if present) since they could reduce sharpness or are visually cluttering.
[]No Depth: Only applies a colour grade and sharpening. Depth-based effects like DoF or change of contrast/brightness at a distance all produce visual artifacts when paired with vanilla DoF effect in cutscenes. Using the No Depth variant avoids those artifacts if you haven’t disabled vanilla effects from AC.ini.
[]Night: Increased bloom and lens flare suitable for the darkness of night-time.
[]Recommended: My preferred tweaks, usually just removing a few effects.

[]SMAA: Applies additional anti-aliasing on top of whatever is being used in-game
[]MartysMods_SHARPEN: Responsible for most of the image sharpening
[]FilmicAnamorphSharpen: Some additional sharpening at the centre of the screen. Very minimal.
[]CobraMask: Selects a particular slice of depth for processing. I use it to select only the sky and leave most of the land area alone.
[]Colourfulness: Affects saturation. In combination with CobraMask, I use it to reduce saturation at a distance.
[]Deband: Reduces banding artifacts created in the sky. More banding is visible at night time than during the day.
[]PD80_04_Contrast_Brightness_Saturation: Used to tweak contrast/brightness/exposure at a distance.
[]qUINT_dof: Adds a dof blur effect with autofocus.
[]AmbientLight.fx: Adds glow and lens dirt effects. Has a small effect on contrast.
[]Bloom.fx: Adds bloom and lens flare.
[]crt-royale: Adds halation, but not film-like. It’s more like a glow of the bright regions of the image, resulting in a softer image overall. This fx also changes the contrast and reduces the saturation of the image, so if you want a cleaner, sharper look, I recommend disabling this.
[]FILMDECK: Used in black-and-white presets. Adds film-like look, film grain, removes c
