Outhouse Composter

Description

Allows the Outhouse to generate Compost from food and seeds. Normally its storage refuses food and seed items. With this mod it accepts them, and everything you toss in slowly breaks down into Compost inside the same storage, ready to grab for your farm plots.

Composting runs on in-game time, not real time. By default 1 food becomes 1 Compost every 5 in-game hours, and 20 seeds become 1 Compost every 10 in-game hours. All of it is configurable.

Installation instructions

1. Install BepInEx 6 (IL2CPP build).

2. Place the OuthouseComposterMod.dll into your ASKA/BepInEx/plugins/ folder.

Main features

- The Outhouse accepts food and seeds (vanilla refuses them). Compost appears in the same storage as they break down.

- Runs on the in-game clock, so conversions track the game's days and seasons rather than your wall clock.

- Seeds stack to 200 in the Outhouse (matching other storage) and food stacks to 10. Compost stacks to 200 in the Outhouse so it does not eat up slots. All three are configurable, up to 200.

- A completely full Outhouse still composts. If every slot is taken and there is no Compost stack yet, the mod empties one whole stack into Compost and carries on from there. It picks a stack that converts with nothing left over.

- Two conversion styles: Sequential (default) converts one batch at a time, draining the earliest storage slots first. Simultaneous lets every occupied slot compost independently at the same time.

- Heads-up for Simultaneous mode: each slot must hold a full batch on its own. Part-stacks sitting in different slots will NOT combine into a conversion. If you want part-stacks pooled together, stay on Sequential.

- Co-op safe: only the host (or solo player) performs conversions, so clients never fight over the container.

Configuration

The config file is generated at BepInEx/config/com.askamods.outhousecomposter.cfg on first launch:

- AcceptFood / AcceptSeeds (both true): toggle each input type.

- FoodToCompostRatio (1) / SeedsToCompostRatio (20): units consumed per Compost produced.

- FoodGameHours (5. 0) / SeedGameHours (10. 0): in-game hours between conversions, per outhouse.

- SimultaneousConversion (false): enable the per-slot simultaneous mode described above.

- FoodStackSize (10) / SeedStackSize (200) / CompostStackSize (200): stack sizes inside the Outhouse. Capped at 200 to stay co-op safe.

- AllowFoodLossWhenFull (false): only matters when the Outhouse is completely full. If no stack converts cleanly, true lets the mod empty a stack anyway and lose the leftover units. False leaves the Outhouse as it is until you free a slot.

- CompostItemName / FoodCategoryMatch: advanced item-matching options. Leave at defaults unless you know why.

- EnableDiagnostics (false): verbose logging for troubleshooting. Flip on if reporting an issue.
