Undead Legacy: Redefined
For 7 Days to Die 2. 6 (b14) and Undead Legacy 2. 7. 22
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. Redefined is still in active development. Back up your world and player data before installing or updating.
Undead Legacy: Redefined is a modular balance and progression suite centered on a rebuilt trader quest experience and a four-tier Crypt Exchange economy. Its goal is not to remove Undead Legacy's depth or turn progression into creative mode. It aims to make time-consuming activities feel appropriately rewarding, make loot and reward categories communicate what they actually contain, reduce chores that do not create interesting decisions, and add useful resource sinks for players who want more control without receiving guaranteed jackpots.
The project is strongly inspired by the older Undead Legacy Anti-Bullshit approach: keep the complexity, atmosphere, and long-form progression that make UL compelling, but question friction when it becomes busywork or produces rewards wildly out of proportion to the effort. Redefined is not a port, continuation, or affiliated release. Its Crypt Exchange also evolves ideas from an older private Alpha 20. 7 setup into a new system designed specifically around UL 2. 7 progression.
The Core Mod
Core introduces Crypt Coins as an undead-loot currency and a four-stage Crypt Exchange that progresses through introductory, iron, steel, and titanium eras. Early ammunition is intentionally inefficient; upgrading the Exchange improves batch pricing and opens better provisions, medical orders, research, fuel, specialized ammunition, and targeted loot crates.
Your first Crypt Exchange Tier 1 can be crafted directly from your backpack using a picked-up `decoComputerMonitorKeyboardMousePC` — the complete office computer found in the world with a monitor, keyboard, mouse, and desktop tower. Effectively, your first Exchange is free once you find and recover the correct computer. Further tiers require proper upgrades in line with Undead Legacy's workstation progression system.
Crypt Caches & Encrypted Data Chips
Tier-2+ Crypt Caches let you gamble on a category rather than purchase a guaranteed specific item. They use a separate violet circuit-board currency called Encrypted Data Chips, preventing the cache system from becoming a Crypt Coin farm.
Standard crates cost 10 Encrypted Data Chips + 5 matching parts. Premium tool crates cost 20 Encrypted Data Chips + 10 matching parts.
Restore Power contracts grant a fixed:
-
[]Tier 2: 2 Encrypted Data Chips
[
]Tier 3: 4 Encrypted Data Chips - Tier 4: 6 Encrypted Data Chips
Surviving a Blood Moon without dying grants 10 chips on Day 7 and two additional chips per later horde, capped at 30.
There are twenty cache categories: handgun, SMG, assault/machine gun, sniper rifle, shotgun, archery, clubs, sledges, batons, blades, light/medium/heavy armor, graded ranged/melee/armor augments, and mining/excavation/logging/salvage tools.
Sealed crates use immersive vendor models: Shotgun Messiah for firearms, Working Stiffs for melee weapons and tools, and Savage Country for armor.
Weapon crates are a transparent 50/50 bet. A successful roll gives a weapon from the chosen family. Its weapon stage 0-4 follows UL's own progression assignments, while its H-S grade follows a restrained loot-stage curve. B-grade equipment is rare, A is very rare, and S remains exceptional.
A failed ranged roll instead gives 1-8 matching weapon parts and one universal Ammo Crafting Bundle. This means, for example, an R90 can no longer arrive alongside a completely unrelated random stack of 9mm ammunition.
Melee, armor, and augment crates likewise use targeted 50/50 item-or-parts outcomes.
Tool crates use a 35% equipment / 65% parts outcome and always include iron, steel, or very-rare titanium plating.
Graded-mod caches contain only augments with genuine H-S quality-scaled effects. Fixed-stat attachments such as Full Auto, Burst, scopes, lights, bipods, and silencers cannot roll from these caches.
Version 0. 3. 4 also explicitly binds every cache to its own localized description, preventing the inherited vanilla "CREATIVE: A shipping crate containing... something" placeholder from appearing in the Exchange.
Crypt Coins & Zombie Loot
Zombie loot bags are the primary repeatable source of Crypt Coins. Regular, strong, boss, nurse, laboratory, utility, soldier, and thug bags always receive a tiered Crypt Coin roll.
