📋 About This Mod

Marks visited POIs on the map and flags those that are cleared.

POI Map Plus

Description

You clear a POI, drive on, and three days later you are standing in front of the same building wondering whether you have already stripped it. POI Map Plus answers that from the map screen.

Every POI you have been to gets a skull marker. Orange means its best container is still untouched. Green means someone already took it. Point at a marker and a tooltip gives you the POI name and its difficulty tier - no permanent labels cluttering the map, nothing revealed about places you have never approached.

It is a small quality of life mod: no new blocks, no new items, no balance changes. It only reads what the game already knows and puts it on the map.

Main features

  • []Markers for POIs you have visited. A marker appears the first time you get close enough for that part of the map to uncover, and stays from then on.[/]

[]Difficulty on hover. Name and tier in a tooltip.[/]

[]Looted or not, at a glance. Orange skull while the good loot is still there, green once it is gone.[/]

[]Follows the best container present. The mod ranks loot containers and watches the richest one a POI actually has, so a tier 5 chest is what counts in a tier 5 POI, and a weapons bag is what counts where that is all there is.[/]

[]Quest resets are respected. Reset a POI through a trader quest and its marker goes back to orange.[/]

    []Works on existing saves.[/]

How "cleared" is decided

The mod follows a ranked list of loot containers, from the richest down to the most modest - tiered loot room chests first, then weapon bags, then the smaller stuff like ammo piles and the boxes inside sealed shipping crates. In each POI it picks the best ranked container that is actually there and watches that one; lower ranks only matter when nothing better exists in that POI.

Trash bins, mailboxes and other filler are not on the list at all, so opening a nightstand on the way in does not mark anything. The full list, with the rank of every container, sits in PoiMapPlus.xml and can be reordered or extended.

Requirements

  • []7 Days to Die V 3. 2. 0+[/]

[]The game must run without EasyAntiCheat. The mod ships a DLL and EAC blocks those.[/]

Installation instructions

  • []Download the archive (or install via Vortex).[/]

[]Extract it into your Mods folder so that you end up with Mods\PoiMapPlus\ModInfo.xml. If your game has no Mods folder yet, create one next to 7DaysToDie.exe.[/]

    []Start the game without EasyAntiCheat.[/]

Vortex and the 7D2D Mod Launcher handle the archive as a normal modlet. To uninstall, delete the folder - the mod only ever writes its own small state file into your save.

Multiplayer

The mod is client side only: the server does not need it and neither do the other players. Everything it reads is already on your client, and looted marks live in your own save.

That said, it has only been tested in single player. It should behave the same as a client on a dedicated server, but nobody has verified that yet - feedback welcome. Marks are personal: they do not sync with what your teammates have looted.

Compatibility

Hooks vanilla methods with Harmony postfixes and appends a single nav object class through XPath, so no vanilla config file is overwritten. UI overhauls that only restyle the map are fine; a mod that replaces the map controller with its own class would leave the markers unhooked. Containers added by other mods are supported - put their loot lists into the config. Large overhauls such as Darkness Falls or Undead Legacy rework loot completely, so the default ranking needs adjusting for them.

Configuration

Everything lives in PoiMapPlus.xml next to ModInfo.xml, with comments explaining each setting. The ones people usually touch:

  • []MinTier - lowest POI tier that gets a marker. Default 1, which skips tier 0 sheds and ruined booths. Set it to 0 to see everything.[/]

[]OnlyDiscovered - set to false to reveal every POI in the world from the start.[/]

[]TopContainerCount - how many of the best containers must be looted before a POI counts as cleared. Default 1.[/]

[]tracked_loot_lists - which containers count and in what order.[/]
