📋 About This Mod
Adds a new infection to the game--Rabies
The dead aren't the only thing you need to fear.
Something is spreading among the predators of the wasteland. Coyotes. Wolves. Mountain lions. Bears. Even the infected animals that still stalk the ruins. Their bites may carry something far worse than an ordinary infection: a mutated strain of the Rabies virus unlike anything that existed before the world fell. And once you've been infected, the clock starts ticking.
A Disease That Gets Worse
Rabies isn't just another icon on your HUD. As the infection progresses, your character will begin suffering increasingly severe neurological symptoms. Drinking becomes painful. Loud noises become unbearable. Gunfire and nearby explosions can physically hurt you. Your vision deteriorates. Your body begins betraying you. And eventually...you won't sound quite human anymore.
Treatment Can Buy You Time
Rabid predators can provide valuable biological material needed to produce several tiers of rabies vaccine.
Treating the disease can halt its progression and reduce the infection, but surviving long enough to obtain or manufacture another dose may become a battle of its own. Rumors and fragments of old research suggest that something more powerful may exist for survivors willing to search for it.

Customize the Threat
7 Days to Die's Day Animal Density, Night Animal Density, and Animal Respawn settings can be used to tailor the Rabies experience to your preferred difficulty. Because dangerous wildlife is a potential source of rabies infection, these settings can have a significant impact on how often you encounter the disease.
Intended Rabies Experience: Keep the animal settings at their default values. Rabies remains an ever-present threat without dominating the normal survival experience.
Easier Experience: Lower Day/Night Animal Density and increase the time between animal respawns. Dangerous wildlife—and therefore opportunities to contract rabies—will be less common.
Harder Experience: Increase Day/Night Animal Density and decrease the time between animal respawns. More wildlife means more encounters, more bites, and more chances for rabies to become somebody's problem.
Server owners are encouraged to adjust these settings to suit the kind of survival experience they want to create.
Installation
IMPORTANT: This is not a server-side-only mod.
Rabies contains custom code, visual assets, and audio assets required for the full experience.
The mod must be installed on the server AND by every player connecting to that server.
For single-player, install the mod normally in your game's Mods directory.
For multiplayer, the server and all connecting clients should be running the same version of Rabies.
