📋 About This Mod
"Travel to and Conquer new worlds." Effectively Adds Infinite Worlds.
Find the plane. Pay the pilot. Fly your character to another world.
Dead Reckoning puts a cargo plane and a pilot in your world. Buy passage and your character, your gear, your progression, and your drone are flown to an entirely different world, without leaving the game and without anyone touching a save file by hand. The world you left is still there, exactly as you left it, and the pilot will take you back whenever you can pay.
One mod, every role. The same folder installs on a dedicated server, a player-hosted game, and single player.
Find it. In your home world the trader's 20,000 Dukes discovery quest points you to the plane. Everywhere you fly after that, the plane is already on the ground waiting.
Pay it. The pilot posts a request in goods, and it changes over time. Bring what is asked, open the chart, and pick where you want to go. Everyone online must be present to initiate.
Survive the takeoff. This is the part to plan for. The engine hum rings a dinner bell. Sprinters pour in from beyond the treeline and lock onto whoever is standing at the plane, and they keep coming until the wheels leave the ground. Everyone flying has to stay close. Wander off, get overrun, or perish, and the pilot will not go. Remember, no refunds....
Land. The screen goes dark, the engines fade, and you are somewhere else. Go back to a world you have already been to and you arrive where you left from, next to that world's own plane, ready to be paid again.
Time passes on the way. It will carry the current day/time form the previous world and a "travel time" is added to that. Will not land you in the middle of a Horde Night.
One Save, Every World
Your save list still shows the single game you started. Every world you fly to hangs off that one save instead of filling the list, so Continue always puts you back wherever you actually are, whichever world that happens to be. Each save contains its own Universe.
Underneath, each world keeps its own copy of you and its own terrain. Nothing is flattened together and nothing is overwritten. Fly back and your base, your bedroll, your vehicles and your explored map are all exactly where you left them.
What Travels With You
-
[]Your character, inventory, tool belt, equipment, and progression[/]
[]Your drone, its mods and its cargo[/]
[]Everyone in the group, on one flight[/]
[]Anyone who is offline, carried with the group and delivered the next time they log in[/]
Ask the pilot for somewhere nobody has been and the mod builds it for you. You pick the name and the seed, or let it choose both, and every world generation option the base game offers is there to set.
Sizes run from 2k all the way up to 16k, well past what the base game's own menu will give you. A 16k map is a long generation and a chunky download for everyone who flies there, and takes measurably longer to load. (esp with POI mods and things of that nature)
The whole thing runs in its own process while everybody keeps playing. The pilot calls out progress as it goes, and when it is finished he spreads the chart out for you to look over. Keep it and it joins the list for everyone. Bin it and it never existed. The generator is an admin ONLY tool, on a dedicated server and in a player-hosted game alike; everyone else simply sees the new world appear.
On a Dedicated Server
[]About a second of downtime per flight. The destination loads in a second server process while the countdown runs, and the port is handed over at takeoff. Servers without the memory to spare fall back to loading in place.[/]
[*]Nobody lands as the wrong character. Logins are held until every carried character has been written into the destination. I
