📋 About This Mod

Workforce Plus expands X4's workforce system with scalable bonuses up to +1000%. Build highly productive stations, reduce the number of factories needed, and customize workforce production and consumption bonuses through the in-game options

Workforce Plus – More Production Through a Larger Workforce

Workforce Plus expands the workforce system of X4: Foundations and makes large station populations significantly more valuable.

The more workers living on a player-owned station, the more additional production it receives:

This is the final version for now. I hope you enjoy it. Have fun!

Version 4. 0 – Optional Resource Consumption

Added a new resource-consumption slider from 0% to 1,000% in 50% steps.

Additional consumption scales proportionally with the active Workforce Plus production bonus.

Applies to intermediate and final products.

If additional resources are unavailable, no Workforce Plus bonus output is produced for that cycle.

Existing production and workforce settings remain unchanged.

The new resource-consumption setting defaults to 0%, you can adjust.

Fully Configurable Production Scaling

Based on feedback version 3. 9 adds two in-game sliders. The sliders can be found under Extension Settings, that allow you to adjust Workforce Plus to your preferred station size and playstyle.

Maximum Production Bonus:

+50% to +1,000% in 50% steps

Workers Required for Maximum Bonus:

500 to 20,000 in 500-worker steps

The default setting remains +500% at 5,000 workers, so existing players can continue using the original balance.

Both values can be changed independently. For example:

+500% at 5,000 workers

– original Workforce Plus balance

+100% at 20,000 workers

– much slower scaling

+1,000% at 10,000 workers

– very high-output compact empires

The production bonus scales in 2 percent steps.

Settings are saved with your game and changes take effect automatically.

Applies to Intermediate and Final Products

The additional production bonus is not limited to finished products. It also applies to every intermediate product within a production chain.

This allows the entire economy to scale with a station’s population, from basic resources and intermediate wares to valuable finished products. A high-output final-product station therefore still requires a sufficiently powerful supply chain.

Fewer Stations, Less Management

The main goal of this mod is to reduce the amount of management required for large empires. Instead of constructing and managing an ever-growing number of nearly identical production stations, you can increase the output of existing stations by adding habitats and supporting a larger workforce.

This means you generally need:

  • []fewer production stations[/]

    []fewer managers[/]

    []less repetitive station construction[/]

    []less micromanagement in large empires[/]

More Individual Stations with a Distinct Faction Style

Many production modules look very similar or identical across the different factions. Habitat modules, however, have clearly distinct faction-specific designs.

Because Workforce Plus rewards the construction of additional habitat modules while reducing the need for large numbers of identical production modules, stations naturally gain more of their faction’s visual identity.

Argon, Paranid, Teladi, Split, Boron and Terran stations become more distinct and individual. Large stations can feel more like faction-specific cities and industrial centers in space.

More Production Requires More Supplies

A larger workforce also consumes more food and medical supplies. The increased output is therefore not entirely free: Large high-performance stations require a reliable supply network.

The number of separate production stations can be reduced considerably, while food and medical production become more important. This creates a meaningful trade-off and allows highly populated stations to feel like real industrial centers or cities in space.

Long-Term Growth Instead of an Instant Boost

Workers still need to immigrate to the station as they do in the normal game.

The exact time depends on factors such as supply, species and local workforce availability. The production bonus increases continuously as the station’s population grows.

Additional Features

[]Affects player-owned stations only[/]

[]Applies to final products and all intermediate products[/]

[]AI stations continue to use the normal production values[/]

[]The standard X4 workforce bonus remains active[/]

[]The additional bonus is displayed directly in the Logical Station Overview[/]

[*]Designed for large empir
