Quiet Guns

Description

Very simple and quick mod that I did mostly for myself.

As much as I like weapon SFX in this game some guns are way too loud to my liking especially if I want to use multiple of the same type in my ship.

What this mod does is reduce several guns and turrets SFX to (IMO) less jarring levels.

I optimized it with Sound Settings -> Total Volume (100) and Effects Volume (30) in mind.

Installation instructions

Extract with 7z and place in your 'extensions' folder.

Main features

TER Proton Barrage S and M - SFX reduced by ~50%

TER Pulse Laser S and M - SFX reduced by ~50%

TER Meson Streams and turrets - SFX reduced by ~60%

HOP Blast Mortar - SFX reduced by ~50%

All Beam Emitters - SFX reduced by ~65%

All Beam Emitter turrets - SFX reduced by ~75%

Bolt Repeater reload sound - SFX reduced by ~30%.

If you feel that some weapons are too quiet (or still too loud) fine tuning the mod yourself is super simple:

Exit the game, go inside this mod's folder, open libraries folder and sound_library.xml file with notepad.

What you want to do is change number values at the end of each line and save the file. That's it.

Higher value will make the gun louder and lower value will make it quieter.

Requirements

Vanilla game + Cradle of Humanity DLC.

Compatibility

Obviously incompatible with other mods that change the very same weapons SFX but as long as Egosoft won't change specific Sound IDs in their sound_library.xml it should be compatible with everything else forever. I think.

I might update this mod in the future if I find another weapon SFX I won't like but no promises :)
