GHOSTau's Sector Explorer 2. 14a
Give a ship the Sector Explorer 2. 0 order to clear fog, visit selected objects, maintain satellite coverage and claim abandoned ships as it explores. Fog scanning and object visits can run together, and each ship has its own settings.
This is a separate extension based on Assailer's Sector Explorer. The original can stay installed; avoid giving the same ship both exploration orders.
What's new in 2. 14a
-
[] Missing marker satellites can be replenished even when other satellite types fill the hold.[/]
[]Refill trips depend on depleted required types. Suitable spares can finish the current sector before the preferred type is replenished.[/]
[]Extra deployables stay aboard unless their space is needed. Satellites take priority, then up to five defensive laser towers; towers never cause a separate trip.[/]
[]Better delivery checks, work-reservation cleanup and supply warnings. Newly rejected marker placements no longer count as completed work.[/]
Existing orders retain their settings, including Claim abandoned ships. Marine recruitment and the spending reserve remain in place. Purchases already queued keep their original contents.
Getting started
First create civilian Sector Travel and Sector Activities blacklists in Global Orders that rule out dangerous sectors; without them, explorers fly anywhere. Then choose Sector Explorer 2. 0 in a ship's Default Behaviour, set its options and press Confirm. It also works from the order queue. A fast scout with space for deployables is a useful starting point. Load satellites if you want coverage immediately, or leave Auto-restock on with the game's Automatic Resupply.
The options
-
[] Continue to next sector: move on after the current sector's work. Off keeps future exploration in that sector; supply trips can still leave it.[/]
[]Fog radius per sector: how far the sweep reaches. The radius is not reduced to fit the sector.[/]
[]Fog ring spacing: distance between scan circles. Wider spacing is faster but leaves larger gaps.[/]
[]Fly to clear fog (slow): the ship flies the rings itself instead of launching a temporary probe, and finishes every ring before it visits objects. Its rings are never further apart than its radar can cover. After an interruption it carries on from the last finished ring.[/]
[]Centre rings on core: centre the sweep on the sector's core instead of its origin.[/]
[]Skip fog, objects only: skip the sweep while keeping selected object work.[/]
[]Visit unknown stations, lockboxes, abandoned ships and data vaults: choose the optional visits. Unknown gates and superhighway connections are always included. New orders start with all four on.[/]
[]Claim abandoned ships: claim abandoned ships instead of marking them. Needs crew seats and marines. See Claiming abandoned ships below.[/]
[]Place satellites: enable satellite coverage and the markers for abandoned ships and data vaults.[/]
[]Cover gates, Cover stations, Cover superhighways: choose which objects need satellite coverage. These settings do not turn gate discovery off.[/]
[]Satellite type to buy: choose the type for new coverage purchases. Suitable satellites already aboard can still be used.[/]
[]Auto-restock: allow purchases of what Place satellites and Claim abandoned ships need, and the deployable sales that go with them. Off keeps carried satellites usable and lets purchases already queued finish.[/]
[]Notify when sector done: receive a completion message.[/]
[]Redo this sector now: make the selected work due again in the current sector. This option clears itself after use.[/]
[]Revisit after: finished work can be done again after 60 to 360 game minutes. The default is 180 minutes. SETA advances this timer; becoming due does not interrupt current work.[/]
A greyed-out box does not apply to that ship because a game setting rules it out: the ship's response to Found Abandoned Ship, its Automatic Resupply, or a hull without crew seats. The box keeps its tick and counts again once the game allows it; on a hull without crew seats the explorer clears Claim abandoned ships itself.
Claiming abandoned ships
Claiming follows the game's own setting. The explorer claims by itself only while Claim abandoned ships is on and the ship's response to Found Abandoned Ship is Claim if possible. It claims without asking, even when Notify me if incident occurs is on. In every other case the game reacts for the explorer as for any ship: Ignore writes its logbook en
