Mercenaries For Hire

Overview

Hire mercenaries from faction representatives to do a variety of tasks.

Talk to a faction representative that you have at least +5 reputation with.

Missions:

• []Patrol: Mercs take on the reputation of the player for patrolling purposes. Custom (fast) patrol order looks for baddies in that sector. Patrol missions will also scout by dropping temporary satellites in the target sector.

  []Attack: Can attack any ship regardless if they're friends of the faction or you. No attacking self-faction or player faction though. Attack missions are more like assassination missions that turn the extra time into a Patrol mission in that sector.

  []Station Siege: Same as above for targetting. Mission can take a long time due to capital ship movement and attack setup. Squad will not hang around long after a successful station dunking.

  []Protect: Can protect ship (escort), station, object like gates, etc. If protecting a ship, mercenary squad matches reputation of that ship's faction. Otherwise matches player's reputation.

• []Missions are 30 minutes long. Except station sieges because those slow capitals take a long time to setup. Those are 45 minutes max.

  []Set the target using your autopilot.

  []Known issue: Sieging stations that are far off of the Y plane can have ranging issues.

  []Available number of ships depends on your reputation with the faction that you are talking to.

  []The number of ships and hiring price per ship class fluctuates at time intervals.

  []The different mercenary skill levels (Rookie, Veteran, Elite) affect piloting skill and mods that are installed on their ships, as well as overall cost to hire.

  []Check status of the mission at the Representative for an easy way to locate the mercs on a map, or live stream view them which is pretty chill.

  []On the map, Mercenaries have a little "+" added to below them so you can find them at quick glance.

  I'm open to feedback on thoughts about mission pricing. I thought this first go was "fair" but it's a highly subjective topic.
