📋 About This Mod
A simple AutoHotKey 2.0 script to implement Bethesda-style autowalk (the C key in Skyrim or Q in the Fallouts) in The Witcher 3, stock and remastered. I missed that Skyrim slow-paced tourist vibe after the first playthrough. It's pretty
- What is this for?
Press a key to start walking, press it again to stop. Move without the need to keep W pressed, just like on all those Skyrim jaunts. No in-game dependencies, only AutoHotkey 2. 0. Check out the Cyberpunk 2077 version as well if you like this!
Tap tilde (~) (the key under Esc, above Tab and to the left of 1) or the Plus key on the numpad or the fourth mouse button to start autowalking. On ISO layout keyboards (Europe and UK), the "<>|\" ISO key between Left Shift and Z also works, and might actually be the best choice.
Double tap any of these to start autosprinting. Tap any of these while sprinting to drop down to running.
Remember that you can toggle between walk and run by pressing Left Control.
- Installation:
Install AutoHotkey 2. 0 and run the included .ahk script with it, AS ADMINISTRATOR (by right clicking on it and choosing that option) before launching the game. You can remove or rebind the autowalk keys to any keyboard or mouse button by editing the script.
- Compatibility with other mods
By virtue of being completely external, my mod never interferes with any actual game logic, either stock or modded. In fact you can launch, pause or close the script while the game is running and nothing bad happens. You can pause the script for troubleshooting by alt-tabbing out of the game, right clicking on the green H icon in the system tray, and choosing "Suspend Hotkeys".
- Why those keys specifically?
I experimented with a few binds. Tilde seems like the best compromise on US keyboards (only U was free otherwise), while "the ISO key" is probably the most natural feeling of the bunch, using the pinky with the left hand in the usual WASD position. I added Numpad Plus because it works great for pushing it with the right hand thumb.
