The Witcher Enhanced Edition Xpadder Controller Profile English

The Witcher (1) Enhanced Edition Xpadder profile by Seiferslash version 4, January 2020

Version 2 - Added Extra Weapon functionality to the ALT 2 tab and standardized Analog Stick deadzones/sensitivity across tabs.

Version 3 - Switched the Hero and Alchemy buttons.  Added more explanatory labeling to the RT button. To better facilitate conversation hotkeys, rotated the Alt 1 Sign/Quickslot options so that they numerically follow the Main Sign/Quickslot options.

Version 4 - Discovered a way to properly bind an Evade button, rather than use the original double tap of the W,A,S,D keys.  This allowed me to switch the DPad and Left Analog Stick controls back to normal, while adding the Evade Button A. Although they are not eliminated completely, I did add some commands to reduce unintentional evades caused by accidental double tap of the Left Analog Stick.

Xpadder version used:  Xpadder20190501, which is a paid version.

I have not verified this profile with any older version, including the last "freeware" version 5. 3.  I also do not know if this profile will be fully functional with the original non-enhanced Witcher game.

For those of you new to Xpadder, please refer to the Xpadder website for help on how to edit this profile.  You can access the Xpadder forum at https://xpadder.com/forum4/  .  After a couple hours of practice, you'll be familiar with the basic setup options.

I've tried other Witcher 1 Xpadder profiles, but many of them are too complicated, too many tabs.  After about 50 hours of gameplay, I simplified the profile to cover the majority of functionality on 2 tabs (Main and Alt 1), with the lesser used Extra Weapon selection on Alt 2. For the rest, keep your keyboard/mouse nearby.

1)  Control Notes:

IMPORTANT Be sure the Xpadder's "Main" Tab is highlighted/selected while playing Witcher.  Otherwise, MAIN and ALTs will be switched.

To use ALT 1 buttons, HOLD RB.

To use ALT 2 buttons, HOLD LB.

Simply release RB or LB to switch back to the MAIN buttons.

The LB ALT 2 tab is a copy of the Main Tab, but with Extra Weapon Slots. Feel free to further customize this tab to suit your preferences.

To use Evade, TAP A while holding the Left Analog Stick in the desired direction.

ESC (Main and Alt 2) and Quickload (Alt 1) are bound the to Left Analog Stick L3 press.

Pause (Main and Alt 2) and Quicksave (Alt 1) are bound to the Right Analog Stick R3 press.

Witcher Enhanced Edition does not have a "Walk" option. It's not in the profile.

2)  Mouse Sensitivity and Deadzones:

Each gamer has their own Mouse Sensitivity preferences.  This can be adjusted using Xpadder's tool/wrench icon settings for the Right Analog Stick.

Each controller has a different deadzone % depending on brand and wear-and-tear over time. This can be adjusted using Xpadder's tool/wrench icon on either Analog Stick. Decreasing deadzone % increases stick sensitivity.  Increasing deadzone % reduces unintentional movement/drift during the game.

These settings are tab specific, so if you make adjustments on one tab, you should probably do them all.

3)  NPC Conversations:

Witcher 1 was programmed to use the Sign and Quick Slot hotkeys (1-8) also as Conversation hotkeys (1-8).  Be careful pressing the DPad while speaking with NPCs.  To avoid mixups, you can use the Right Analog Stick to navigate the cursor and RT to select the responses.

4)  Witcher Combat Styles:

To keep things simplified, I did not include the Combat Style hotkeys in the profile. Instead, press the  Steel, Silver, or X Weap # button consecutively to switch styles. Some Weapons do not use Witcher Combat Styles
