The Witcher 1 — Universal Dual Subtitles

Display subtitles in two languages at the same time in The Witcher: Enhanced Edition.

Choose any two detected game languages:

• Primary language — the game's active language and font context.

• Secondary language — displayed as an additional subtitle line.

The tool works with the game's localization resources and supports DLG and QST dialogue/quest text. Language resources are detected automatically.

Installation

1. Close The Witcher: Enhanced Edition.

2. Extract the downloaded archive anywhere on your PC.

3. Run START_HERE.bat.

4. Select your Primary and Secondary languages.

5. Run SAFE TEST first.

6. If SAFE TEST passes, click INSTALL LAST TEST.

7. Start the game and check the subtitles.

For existing save files, use PATCH SAVE or PATCH ALL SAVES. Close the game completely before patching saves.

The active Primary language controls the game's font context. Some languages may not render correctly when used as Secondary, depending on the game's original font resources. If a language displays symbols or incorrect characters, swap Primary and Secondary.

Some menu or Settings entries may remain in English because The Witcher 1 does not contain localized versions of every interface element for every language. This is a limitation of the original localization resources and is not a failure of the dual-subtitle system.

The tool does not machine-translate missing localization.
