Perma Storm

Description

Permanent storm. Every voyage now starts in a screaming gale: black sky, sheeting rain, towering swells, the works. The whole Caribbean weather table is hard-rigged so the dice almost always land on Storm, every single time the game rolls weather.

Installation instructions

1. Download all three files: `aaPermaStormB_P.pak`, `aaPermaStormB_P.utoc`, `aaPermaStormB_P.ucas`.

2. Drop all three into `<Windrose game folder>\R5\Content\Paks\~mods\` (create the `~mods` folder if it doesn't exist).

3. Launch the game. No load order setup needed.

Main features

Two patches working together.

1. Weather probability table (`DA_DefaultProb`).

Windrose rolls weather from a weighted table. Vanilla Storm weight is 15 out of about 305 total, roughly 4. 9%. This mod sets Storm to 10000, all others to 1, so Storm rolls 99. 9% of the time.

2. Weather cycle duration (`DA_DefaultWeatherParams`).

Vanilla each weather state lasts 900 to 1800 seconds (15 to 30 minutes), so even with a forced probability you would wait forever to see it. This mod cuts duration to 5 to 15 seconds and transition to 2 seconds, so Storm locks in within about 10 seconds of loading.

Because Storm is a built-in game state, when it triggers it brings the full package: heavy rain, dark cloud cover, lightning, wind audio, plus the storm's own bigger waves. No need to touch wave profiles separately, the game does it for us.
