📋 About This Mod

This mod was entirely AI generated. I'm not a dev, and I take no credit for it. If anyone wants to make it better, all the files are present in the download to do whatever you want with it. Do whatever you want with the mod. I hadn't seen anything like this yet and I wanted my base to have more people walking around in it.
I recommend standing still for a bit after triggering the spawn on world load. I have a pretty heavy load of spawns and it takes about 2 minutes to get everything logged in. Spawns are triggered a few seconds after you first move your character.
DESCRIPTION
LivingBase is a base-building and population toolkit for Windrose. Hand-place ambient
NPCs, animals, posed statues, and decorations anywhere around your base, fine-tune each
piece in place, and have it all persist across reloads — so your settlement actually
looks lived-in.
On top of the placement toolkit it adds a few base-life extras: a summonable crew escort
that fights at your side, a self-triggered Blackbeard pirate raid, invulnerable player
structures so raids can't wreck your base, and an unlock for hidden build-menu pieces.
Everything runs off simple keybinds — nothing is automatic or intrusive. You decide
exactly what your base looks like and when things happen. Single-player.
INSTALLATION
1. Install UE4SS (latest experimental / RE-UE4SS build) into Windrose. In
ue4ss\UE4SS-settings.ini, under , set MajorVersion=5 and
MinorVersion=6. The mod will not load without this override.
2. Extract the download so the LivingBase folder sits at:
...\Windrose\R5\Binaries\Win64\ue4ss\Mods\LivingBase\
(you should have ...\Mods\LivingBase\Scripts\... and config.txt inside it).
3. Enable it: open ...\ue4ss\Mods\mods.txt and add the line:
LivingBase : 1
4. Launch the game, load into a world, and use the keys below.
Optional: edit LivingBase\config.txt (plain text, no coding) to toggle features.
Back up your saves before first use — standard caution for an Early Access game with
unofficial mods.
MAIN FEATURES
Placement toolkit — drop one actor or prop per keypress, ~3 m in front of you:
- Numpad 1-9: crew, townsfolk, four kinds of posed statue, friendly tribal humans,
farm animals, and undo-last.
- F1-F6: decoration categories — nature, boats, wrecks, tents, storage, furniture.
- \ flips statue facing.
Live-edit — nudge the nearest placed piece and the change persists: PageUp/PageDown
height, , / . rotate, arrow keys slide.
Persistence — everything you place is saved and restored on the next world load (the
game doesn't save modded actors, so LivingBase does it itself). Delete (pressed twice)
clears everything.
Whistle crew escort — use the boar whistle to summon a small crew squad that follows you
and fights at your side.
Blackbeard raid — F7 drops a raid flag wherever you want a raid to start; F8 spawns a
wave of hostile Blackbeard pirates that charge your base. Reusable, non-persisting,
self-cleaning.
Invulnerable structures — your building blocks are made damage-proof so raiders can't
wreck the base.
Unlock hidden build pieces — surfaces build-menu pieces hidden from standard play, while
leaving recipe-locked progression intact.
Every feature is individually toggleable in config.txt.
REQUIREMENTS
- Windrose (Kraken Express) — single-player. Built against the current Early Access build.
- UE4SS — latest experimental / RE-UE4SS build, with the engine version override set to

load otherwise.
- No other mods required.
- Note: this is an unofficial mod, so a game patch may change internal class paths (all
centralized in config.lua for quick fixing). Keep save backups.
NumLock must be ON for the numpad keys to register.
Numpad — place NPCs, statues & animals (one per press, ~3 m in front; statues face you):
Num 1 — Crew pawn (wanders; fights hostiles)
Num 2 — Townsman (wanders; sits on chairs/benches/beds)
Num 3 — Standing statue: merchants, chatting, cross-arms, women, quest folk (cycles)
Num 4 — Floor sitter (cycles)
Num 5 — Chair/stool sitter: place your own stool (cycles)
Num 6 — Interactive statue: rummaging a chest/table (cycles)
