Calm Seas

Description

Permanent clear skies. The Caribbean's weather roulette is rewritten so the dice almost always land on Sunny or HighPressure. No more rain interrupting your voyages, no surprise storms, no fog ruining the screenshot. Calm waves, blue sky, sailing weather every time you log in.

Installation instructions

1. Download all three files: `aaCalmSeasB_P.pak`, `aaCalmSeasB_P.utoc`, `aaCalmSeasB_P.ucas`.

2. Drop all three into `<Windrose game folder>\R5\Content\Paks\~mods\` (create the `~mods` folder if it doesn't exist).

3. Launch the game. No load order setup needed.

To uninstall, delete the three files.

Main features

Two patches working together.

1. Weather probability table (`DA_DefaultProb`).

Windrose rolls weather from a weighted table. Vanilla Sunny weight is 70 out of about 305 total, roughly 23%. This mod sets Sunny to 8000 and HighPressure to 2000, all others to 1, so clear weather rolls 99. 9% of the time.

2. Weather cycle duration (`DA_DefaultWeatherParams`).

Vanilla each weather state lasts 900 to 1800 seconds (15 to 30 minutes), so even with a forced probability you would wait forever for a roll. This mod cuts duration to 5 to 15 seconds and transition to 2 seconds, so clear weather locks in within about 10 seconds of loading.

Rain, RainHeavy, Storm, Fog and Overcast still exist in the system, they are just vanishingly rare. Region-specific scripted weather (for example Ashlands fog, Tortuga mist) is untouched. Those fire from POI triggers, not the random table.
