OpenDogs is a file explorer for Watch Dogs 2 that now allows exporting textures from .xbt

files to editable

And view xbg files in 3D Viewer (you need this) Microsoft 3D Visor

.xbg to obj (only for view)

format using .filelist files. You can modify the textures with your preferred image editor (we recommend Paint. NET for its easy support for .dds), and then automatically rebuild them back to .xbt.

You can also:

• []Create a patch folder with your modified .xbt files, preserving the original game structure.

  []Generate a final patch3.dat and patch3.fat

  inside on game folder ready to be used with a single click and execute Watch_Dogs2.exe.

📁 Important setup steps:

To make the file explorer work correctly, follow these steps:

• []Download the required .filelist files from this GitHub repository

  []Download the repo as a .zip and extract it somewhere on your PC

  []Create a folder named tempDDS inside the folder where the .filelist files are located

  []On first launch, OpenDogs will ask for the path to the .filelist folder — select the folder that contains all the .filelist files and the tempDDS folder

These files and the temp folder are required for proper functioning. The .filelist files are used to map and simulate the contents of .dat archives, while the tempDDS folder is used internally to handle texture previews.

📂 To browse or preview files, open the app and select a .dat file from your Watch Dogs 2 installation — OpenDogs will use the .filelist structure to show the contents and allow texture viewing.

📦 Installation (Windows 10/11):

• []Add the included .cer certificate to your Trusted People store (double-click → install).

  []Run install.ps1 as administrator and follow the instructions (if any).

• Alternatively, install the .msix package directly.
