Separated Supertextures

About

This mod separates supertextures to allow individual texture replacements for UI.

Mod does not do anything on it's own! You need other mods that will use this one.

Installation

1. Download and install Troplo's NexusTools

2. Download the mod, extract folders from downloaded archive to the Watch_Dogs\data_win64\mods folder

3. In ModManager drag Separated Supertextures - BFDs to the top, so other mods cannot disable this mod

4. In ModManager drag Separated Supertextures - Textures to the bottom, so other mods can override textures of this mod

How Separated Supertextures works

Supertexture is atlas texture, which contains multiple textures in one texture. In case of Watch_Dogs, it doesn't not allow proper resize of whole atlas and individual textures without editing .bfd file, which dictates each texture's exact size and position in pixels. The script was created that extracts each texture from each supertexture into it's own file based on data from .bfd. Then .bfd was edited to not override any texture.

Game always reads these individual textures from direct path and supertextures are overwriting those textures. With this mod, .bfd files are empty and not overwriting anything.

For modders

For your mod make sure to always export every texture (that overwrites any of the textures from this mod) as uncompressed without mipmaps, otherwise if you pick DXT1/DXT5 you might get fully white texture in game. For some textures DXT1/DXT5 will work, but exporting as uncompressed is the safest option.
