Realms Connect
Friend-code matchmaking and NAT traversal for Realms servers
What it does
Realms Connect lets two players find and join each other's Realms server using a Darktide friend code instead of an IP address and port.
-
[]Join a friend's Realm by typing their Darktide friend code.[/]
[]Browse friends who are currently hosting and join from a list.[/]
[]Let friends in automatically, or accept and refuse each join request from the mission preparation screen or an on-screen prompt.[/]
[]Opens a port on your router automatically while you host, where your router allows it.[/]
[]Connects players who are both behind a home router, without either of them forwarding a port.[/]
[]Lets friends join a mission already in progress, if the host allows it.[/]
[]Optionally hides your public IP address and friend code on screen, for streaming.[/]
Requirements
-
[]Darktide Mod Framework (DMF)[/]
[]Realms 0. 7. 0 or newer, by deluxghost. Realms itself requires SoloPlay.[/]
[]Vox Manifold 2. 2 or newer[/]
Both the host and the joiner need all of the above installed.
The host and the joiner must use the same Realms version. Check it in Esc > Mods before connecting.
Installation
-
[]Install the requirements above.[/]
[]Copy the Realms Connect folder into your Darktide mods folder.[/]
[]Open mods\mod_load_order.txt and add these lines at the bottom, in this order:
Vox Manifold
Realms ConnectRealms must appear above both of them.[/]
[]Start the game.[/]
How to use
Friend codes
Realms Connect uses your normal Darktide friend code. It is also shown at the top of the lobby's Requests tab while hosting; click it to copy it.
-
[]The joiner needs the host's friend code.[/]
[]The host needs the joiner's friend code saved in Esc > Mods > Realms Connect > Saved friend codes. This is not needed if the joiner is already on the host's Darktide friends list or in the host's party.[/]
Hosting
Start a Realms server as normal. Friends (saved friend codes, Darktide friends and party members) are let in automatically while Auto-accept friends is on, which is the default.
A join request appears in the Requests tab on the mission preparation screen, or as a notification on the right of the screen anywhere else, when:
-
[]Auto-accept friends is off, or[/]
[]someone who is not a friend knocks while Advertise mode is Open or Open this lobby is broadcasting.[/]
-
[]F9 (D-pad right + LT on a controller) lets them in.[/]
[]F10 (D-pad right + RT) refuses them.[/]
[]Ignoring the request refuses it when the timer runs out.[/]
Open this lobby (in the Requests tab, or Esc > Mods > Realms Connect) lets players who are not your friends, such as those in the same Mourningstar, ask to join with your friend code for two minutes. You are asked about each one. With Advertise mode Off, it also lets friends find your Realm with Check friends for open lobbies for those two minutes.
Joining
Open Realms' Join screen. In the Realms Connect section, either:
-
[]type the host's friend code, press Look Up, then Connect; or[/]
[]press Check friends for open lobbies and pick a friend who is hosting.[/]
You must be past the title screen and in the Mourningstar. Connecting can take a minute or more; the join screen counts down each stage. Let it run until it reports a result.
An ip:port can also be typed into the friend code box; press Look Up to connect to it directly.
Joining a mission in progress
The host controls this with Let friends join mid-mission, on by default. With it on, friends (saved friend codes, Darktide friends and party members) join straight away; with it off, they are refused. Anyone who is not a friend is refused during a mission.
-
[]type the host's friend code, press Look Up, then Connect; or[/]
-
[]F9 (D-pad right + LT on a controller) lets them in.[/]
-
[]Auto-accept friends is off, or[/]
-
[]The joiner needs the host's friend code.[/]
-
[]Install the requirements above.[/]
-
[]Darktide Mod Framework (DMF)[/]
