How does it work and hasn't something like this already been released?

There are other mods which alters the inferno flame and flame thrower, but only by switching the flame for existing flame types from enemies or other weapons. This means the color can only be changed to a small number of colors. This mod is not only written in LUA, it also adds resources, where clues were found in HD2 game engine. Since it basically isn't the average mod, but an install program, Microsoft Smartscreen might give a warning when installing. This is because the file isn't digitally signed. If you do not trust me, please check the Github link above and download from there. You can verify the code yourself over at Github.

Cannot be installed with Vortex. Install this mod separately via the included installer if you're a Vortex user. I will work perfectly with Vortex that way!

Description

RainbowFlame lets you customize the visual colors of the Inferno staff and Flamethrower in Warhammer 40,000: Darktide.

Choose a custom color, brightness level, animated rainbow mode, and matching wall-impact color. You can also select a separate fixed color for persistent flames on enemies.

Features

  • []Staff modes: Original, a custom hue and brightness, or an animated Rainbow, applied to locally rendered Inferno streams from you and your teammates.[/]

[]Independent Zealot flamer modes with the same controls, applied to primary bursts, braced streams, and locally rendered teammate streams.[/]

[]Separate Rainbow speed and flame opacity controls for each weapon.[/]

[]Eight fixed wall-impact color presets for each weapon's custom Color mode.[/]

[]Enemy Soulblaze presets: Original, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Cyan, Blue, Violet, and Pink.[/]

    []Enemy Soulblaze opacity presets: 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%.[/]

[]Enemy presets affect newly created, locally rendered persistent Soulblaze only. Existing effects keep their current appearance, and gameplay damage, buffs, impacts, and network state are unchanged.[/]

    How It Works

    • []Enemy Soulblaze color affects newly created persistent Soulblaze effects on enemies.[/]

[]Existing enemy burns keep their current appearance. Apply Soulblaze again after changing the setting.[/]

[]Original color restores the staff's original appearance and wall impact.[/]

[]Color selects the custom staff hue. Wall impacts use the nearest fixed preset.[/]

[]Brightness affects custom staff color and Rainbow mode, but not wall impacts or enemy Soulblaze presets.[/]

[]Rainbow cycles the staff flame through colors. Its wall impact remains the original game appearance.[/]

[]Enemy Soulblaze settings are independent from staff settings.[/]

    Requirements

    • []Darktide Mod Loader (DML)[/]

      []Darktide Mod Framework (DMF)[/]

[]Microsoft . NET 10 Desktop Runtime for Windows x64[/]

      []Supported Darktide build: Steam build

      24735202, executable 1. 3. 770. 210[/]

    Installation

    • []Install and verify DML and DMF first.[/]

[]Install the . NET 10 Desktop Runtime x64 if needed.[/]

[]Extract the complete RainbowFlame ZIP to one folder.[/]

      []Close Darktide.[/]

      []Run RainbowFlame. Installer.exe.[/]

[]Select the Darktide folder if it is not detected automatically.[/]

      []Choose Install.[/]

[]Start Darktide and configure the mod under Mod Options > RainbowFlame.[/]

Do not copy only the RainbowFlame mod folder into /mods.

RainbowFlame also requires authenticated game-resource changes installed by the bundled installer.

After A Darktide Update Use Repair after update if Steam has overwritten RainbowFlame files.

The installer checks every managed game file before changing anything. It repairs the installation only when the updated game still has the exact known compatible stock resources. If Darktide changed a required resource, the installer stops safely and a new RainbowFlame release is required.

This feature restores compatible files. It does not guarantee that every future Darktide update is supported.

Compatibility RainbowFlame may conflict with other mods or manual replacements that modify Inferno staff, Soulblaze, particle, shader, or related visual resources.

Remove conflicting asset replacements before installing. Vortex and manual installation are not supported. If you manage your mods by Vortex, that's fine, but install this mod separately via the Installer.
