📋 About This Mod
See your own legs in first person
Immersive First Person
Look down. You have legs now.
Darktide renders a full, correctly animated third person body at all times, but the first person camera normally hides all of it. This mod selectively reveals that body while you stay in first person: legs, hips and lower torso, moving exactly as they do in third person, while the head, upper body and stowed weapons stay hidden so nothing ever blocks your view. Your normal first person arms and weapon are completely untouched.
This mod is in Beta. Feel free to give me your technical knowledge and suggestions to help improve this mod, or perhaps other things that would help you feel more immersed in first person.
Features
-
[]Your own body in first person. Fully animated legs, hips and lower torso, visible when you look down, while sliding, sprinting or just standing around. Survives loadout swaps, weapon switches and perspective changes.[/]
[]Look-down limit. An optional, fully tunable limit on how far down the camera can pitch, so the view never clips into your own torso. Below the soft limit you look around freely, between the soft and hard limits the camera pushes back with growing resistance, and at the hard limit it stops. A separate, higher limit applies while sprinting, which also keeps your backside out of frame without hiding the body. All three angles adjustable in 0. 1 degree steps. It's on by default, so that it keeps you from seeing a cut-off part of your hips. I checked and it shouldn't affect your combat capabilities, but you can always tune and even disable it if you so desire.[/]
[]Look-down FOV change. Eases the field of view as you pitch down. Negative values narrow the view and bring your legs closer, positive values widen it. Set to 0 to disable.[/]
[]Everything applies immediately, no respawn or reload needed, and every part of the mod can be toggled off in Mod Options.[/]
Requirements and compatibility
-
[]Requires the Darktide Mod Loader and Darktide Mod Framework.[/]
[]Fully client side. Nobody else sees anything different.[/]
[]Compatible with Perspectives, and my Absolute Cinema mod, including switching perspectives mid mission.[/]
[]Compatible with cosmetics mods such as NPC Look, including outfits built from NPC parts.[/]
Known quirks
[]While you aim down sights, the mod briefly steps aside so your sights stay perfectly aligned. The exception is aiming steeply downward or aiming during a slide, where your legs would plausibly be in view, so they stay visible there. This ensures compatibility with mods that add extra sights, like Extended Weapon Customization[/]
[*]The look-down limit applies to your aim as well as the camera, since
