The Dutch Canadair NF-5A was a lightweight fighter-bomber that entered service with the Royal Netherlands Air Force in 1969. Based on the Canadian CF-5, the aircraft was specially modified to meet Dutch requirements, including improved navigation systems, more powerful engines, and better short-runway performance. The Netherlands purchased 75 NF-5A single-seat aircraft and 30 NF-5B two-seat trainers. The NF-5A became known as a reliable and highly maneuverable aircraft, mainly used for ground attack missions and NATO support operations during the Cold War. It served with several squadrons stationed at air bases such as Twenthe, Eindhoven, and Gilze-Rijen. Pilots appreciated the aircraft for its simplicity and excellent low-altitude flying characteristics. In the early 1990s, the NF-5A was replaced by the more modern F-16 Fighting Falcon. Many Dutch NF-5 aircraft were later sold to countries including Turkey, Greece, and Venezuela. This variant has been updated with a grey camouflage. by Nutellataart
