Walking Speed

I made this mod because I was irked by the fact that this game doesn't have a walk toggle, so I made a walk toggle. It's a simple lua script Mod that uses UE4SS to load. When you press the toggle key (F9), it reduces movement speed. Enjoy taking a nice, relaxing stroll through the snowy streets of Seattle.

What it does

Adds a hotkey to toggle a comfortable walking speed for the player in Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. Great for sightseeing, screenshots, role-play, or just vibing in the snow.

• []Press F9 to toggle between normal speed and a slower “stroll.”

  []Player-only speed change (NPCs/world stay normal).

  []Fully configurable via a tiny main.lua (key + speed).

  []Console fallback command: walktoggle.

  []Lightweight UE4SS script; no cooked assets, no pak edits.

Vortex (recommended)

• []Install/enable UE4SS for Bloodlines 2.

  []Decompress walkSpeed.zip and place the contents into C:\InstallationFolder...\Vampire - The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2\Bloodlines2\Binaries\Win64\ue4ss\Mods\walkSpeed

  []Ensure the mod is enabled in your load order.

  []Launch the game.

Delete the walkSpeed

folder. No saves are touched.

• []Press F9 in gameplay to switch between normal and slow speeds.

  []If the keybind doesn’t fire (rare), open the UE4SS overlay console and run:

  walktoggle

• []Script-level only; should be compatible with other UE4SS mods.

  []Mods that replace the player’s movement component at runtime may override your set speed; just press F9 again after such changes.

  []No conflicts with pak/asset mods unless those directly alter player speed logic.

  FAQ

  Q: Can I bind a controller button?

  A: This mod uses UE4SS keyboard binds. For pads, map your controller button to a keyboard key via Steam Input/DS4Windows, then set that key in config.lua.

  Q: Does this slow time or affect NPCs?

  A: No. Only your character’s walk speed is tweaked. (It’s not using global slomo.)

  Q: Can you make it a .pak?

  A: Movement is safer and more compatible via script. A pak would require overriding cooked assets and is brittle across updates.

  Known limitations
  • []In certain interiors/cutscene transitions the game may enforce its own walk. Just press F9 afterwards to restore your preferred speed.
