École Polytechnique is one of the most prestigious Grandes Écoles of France. Thanks to its 200 years history and its specific military status, the sudents are nominated to the military rank of "Aspirant" and get a 19th century style uniform used during special occasions. The military instructors of the school are also under military status and got a rank according to it, having them to wear different distinctions like epaulettes.
