Quasars - Monsters on a galactic scale

This sim is an example of an extremely active quasar with the mass of 50 billion suns. It has a schwarzschild radius of 987 AU and an absurdly long particle jet (blazar). Compared to galaxies such as Small Magellanic Cloud and Large Magellanic Cloud, the blazar and the accretion disks are visible. Quasars like this are able to outshine their entire galaxy and galactic neighbors, and sterilize their galaxy with the extreme amount of radiation they throw out. The accretion disks of quasars and regular black holes can convert up to 40% of the mass directly into electromagnetic radiation, heat and kinetic energy. Speaking of heat, the accretion disks also have been estimated to reach up to billions of degrees celsius. The particle jets that most quasars vomit out can accelarate matter close to the speed of light into the intergalactic medium, meaning that a whopping 90% of regular matter is outside of galaxies, even though intergalactic space is estimated to only have 5-10 particles per cubic meter.
