Ithaca Class SPB Block 2

This small advanced vessel is the refined evolution of the original design, developed by the Olympus Military Complex to correct the remaining limitations of its predecessor while preserving the core strengths that made the class so effective in confined waters. Building on the combat experience of the first Ithaca vessels, the Block 2 features a fully streamlined hull that eliminates earlier stealth imperfections. The more carefully shaped structure further reduces the vessel’s radar signature while maintaining the same titanium construction philosophy : a practical balance between low detectability, weight, and basic physical protection. The hull has also been slightly enlarged, providing better weight distribution and additional internal volume for increased fuel and missile stocks and improved crew accommodations without significantly compromising the shallow draught or agility that define the class. Detection capabilities have been upgraded with a more capable sensor suite, giving the Block 2 better situational awareness in cluttered coastal and riverine environments. Offensively and defensively, the armament has been strengthened : the single rapid-fire 60 mm turret has been replaced by a twin version, markedly increasing the rate of fire and effectiveness against surface targets, drones, and incoming threats. The rear twin unmanned machine-gun station has been replaced by a 20 mm minigun for more decisive close-range defense. In addition, a new mine launcher has been installed, carrying a total of 6 mines, allowing the vessel to create temporary denial zones or seal off escape routes during raids and clearance operations. Despite these improvements, the Ithaca Block 2 remains true to its original purpose. It is still a compact, lightweight, and relatively inexpensive inshore combatant designed to operate in the narrow rivers, shallow channels, and cramped coastal zones that larger ships cannot access.
