RAC-75 Rapier SST - Part 2 of 3

Following the announcement of Concorde in 1962 and later the Tu-144, many aircraft design companies rushed to push their own super-sonic transports (SST). BlackBird Airlines, a new startup Japanese airline, wanted to jump into this new market, but didn’t trust the designs from the USA, USSR, nor the BAC Concorde. Instead, they reached out to RAC to build their own dream SST. Capable of flying up to mach 1. 5, the slightly slower RAC-75 Rapier boasted higher fuel efficiency compared to competing designs, with strengthened landing gear supports, brakes, and tires to support much shorter runways. Unfortunately, only two airframes were ever built before BlackBird airlines went bankrupt in 1969, and the airframes were sent to the Japanese Museum of Aeronautical Science.
