It's meant to be low profile to "mow the lawn" to make sure you can hit the lower parts of whatever you wanna turn to dust. You could make it lower profile but you will need to add something to know which direction the lower part is facing and it might be slower since you'll need to expand it beyond the lower part's dimension down to ground level, which can be a problem on uneven terrain.
