The new fighter's voltburner engine was no longer hinged on a tilting mechanism, allowing it to be bigger and more powerful, and it used omnidirectional nozzles to remain VTOL-capable. The extra nozzles also worked as RCS, decreasing the fighter's reliance on gyros and quantum rudders, making operational costs cheaper—which made up for the increased manufacturing prices that came with the doubled Power Core count. The Morrigan was essential for the final Chirpo/MEMENTO victory in the Battle of Nassau, where it swept fighters out before the joint Diplocaulus II and Chirpozoid Omega strike squadron came in to bomb the Pirate HQ. Without a centralized command, the remaining pirates scattered across space. It was too soon to declare the war over, but they could finally rest for a while.
