Mb-R02 Pelicano

Since more advanced VTOL designs with similar attributes were possible by that time, most Bureau engineers deemed them unnecessary and primitive, and besides, the spinning blades made them dizzy. But as the Duchy's economy worsened, the operation of more power-core-hungry aircraft such as the Mb-C42 Cyclox and Mb-C43 Grabby became costly and was suddenly discontinued. As part of a desperate hurry to fill the operational gap, the Bureau designed the Mb-R02 Pelicano as a search and rescue aircraft. The proud Bureau engineers were unhappy with the "technological downgrade," and, for this reason, not many Pelicanos were produced, and most were exported. But the aircraft had its time under the spotlight when it was used to rescue the Chief Engineer known as the Huntress, after she flew a bare-bones Mb-65 prototype to take down a derelict Mb-64 over the Unwanted Sea, avoiding a risky international incident.
