For years, the unorganized pirates had to fend off many Viking raids, forcing them to form a proper government to avoid falling apart. The Duke proclaimed himself a literal Duke in the political sense, and led his newly formed nation into a solid defense, resulting in a peace treaty. The Vikings were soon absorbed by the new Duchy, their culture mixed with that of their pirate hosts, and the true identity of Metalburg was created. --- Brought to you by The Metalburg Bureau™.
