Hybrid Controls - Tank on D-Pad. Modern on Stick.

Description

Adds a hybrid control scheme to all three games: with Modern controls selected, the analog stick works as normal, but the d-pad gives classic tank controls with the classic follow camera. Same idea as the Onimusha remaster or the Resident Evil remake. Buttons keep their Modern layout at all times.

The game can't be configured into this, so the mod patches the binaries.

Installation instructions

1. Copy patch_hybrid_controls.py into the game folder (steamapps/common/Tomb Raider I-III Remastered).

2. Run it: double-click, or from a terminal: python patch_hybrid_controls.py

3. Play with the Modern scheme selected.

The script backs up the originals as .orig and verifies every byte before writing, so it aborts cleanly on builds it doesn't recognize (other stores, or after a game update - re-run it, and check back here if it refuses).

To uninstall: verify game files in Steam, or:

python patch_hybrid_controls.py --restore

  Requirements

  Python 3. 8+ (on Windows, tick "Add python.exe to PATH" in the installer).

  Works on Windows, Linux and Steam Deck. No other mods required; compatible with asset mods, not with other mods that patch the same executables.
