📋 About This Mod

Water Purification I usually prefer playing on harder difficulties, but Timberborn’s endgame often turns into a set of large reservoirs and irrigation lakes that are topped off from storage. There is little opportunity for active clean water flow at any point, and badwater is mostly sealed off and dealt with. That gave me the idea for a mod that introduces ways to convert badwater into clean water. There is already a mod that does this, Mechanical Filter Pump, but I felt that its solution was a bit too straightforward. So I decided to try creating my own approach. -------------------------------------------- Iron Teeth - Crossflow Filter The Crossflow Filter is a late-game technology that extracts part of a contaminated stream in a cleaner form. It is very loosely based on real-world cross-flow filtration. The building has a built-in water channel and requires a constant flow of contaminated water to operate. It also needs power, extract, and dirt for the purification process. Some water is drawn from the incoming stream and released through the side output with reduced contamination. The building works best with roughly 2 m³/s of pure badwater flow. Too little or too much flow reduces its efficiency, so flow control and layout matter. If the incoming flow is less contaminated, the output will also be less efficient overall. The side output will always be cleaner than the incoming flow, but this building cannot produce a pure clean-water stream on its own. To get pure water, you will still need mechanical pumps or other separation methods to split the mixed output. This could be considered a little cheaty, since it allows an endless source of fresh water if configured correctly. I did my best to balance it around a real infrastructure challenge: power, upkeep materials, flow control, and careful routing all matter if you want to get there.
