[OUTDATED] The Great Aqueduct - 256x256 Map

The beavers have travelled far in search of a legendary waterway, built by the hoomans in ages past. The stories said it was a source of unimaginable quantities of clean water, enough to build a true utopia. Yet, in a cruel twist of fate, at the end of their long pilgrimage the beavers have found this great treasure is indeed real, and yet is far out of reach. The pilgrims find themselves in the poisoned plains far below the waterway, and must subsist on the scant clean water that yet persists here, and what little water leaks from the aqueduct far above. Many in the tribe have resigned themselves to a meagre existence in the shadows of abundance. Yet the dreamers amongst them look further afield, to the ruins of the hooman city at the end of the aqueduct, and the great quarry from which it was built. They hold onto hope that one day the bounteous water above might be theirs, and dream of a utopia in the skies, with skyways and aqueducts to rival even those of the hoomans. ***** Made for Build-a-Map Contest 4 - this is a challenging map 256x256 designed to have an interesting, and almost narrative progression as you establish yourself and progress towards the ultimate goal of exploiting the aqueduct and its vast quantities of water. To do so will require creativity, developing your technology, utilising the new features of Update 6, and having the grit to survive long enough to do so. There are numerous approaches and terrain features to exploit and overcome, both before and after you gain access to the aqueduct. This map should provide both the challenge of an early fight for survival, and the satisfaction of ample opportunities for ambitious late game mega-engineering and terraforming projects.
